Important Rules for Windsor Park 2009:

1) Crewing is not allowed anywhere other than where stipulated, no crew cars are allowed in Windsor Park, through any of the double white gates. Crewing anywhere other than where instructed will result in being reported to the TS and may incur elimination whether crewing on foot, bicycle or by car.

2) No crew allowed in the deer park enclosure  at Bishopsgate CP 5, to reduce litter / bottles being eaten by deer. Crew on the grass outside the railings please.

3) Venue gates must remain closed at all times when not manned, please tell your crew. The venue is within the Deer Park – home to several hundred wild deer!

4) Windsor Park Rules must be adhered to at all times. A copy of which will be on the noticeboard. Please be courteous to the public and other riders within the Park. No galloping allowed. There will be park wardens on duty.

5) All  riders must AT ALL TIMES USE  The Pegasus horse crossing to access Checkpoint 1 and Checkpoint 10 or 11( tba), in crossing the A332.

 

Your chance to ride in Windsor Great Park and the Deer Park  on sandy grass tracks.  The ride passes through lots of woods and open parkland with some great views of Windsor Castle.

This year there isn’t going to be a compulsory walk as Dukes Lane is omitted from the ride. Instead we will be using the riding track in South Forest( no crewing in South Forest).

WINDSOR CAPITATION FEE

Please can all riders add a £5 capitation fee to your ride entry fee. - it helps cover the use of the park and tracks maintained by the crown estate. The ride is entirely within The Great Park and Deer Park which is usually only allowed by those who have a yearly permit. Anyone who manages to miss paying their capitation fee will be asked to pay on the day.
 

Checkpoints for 2009- to be finalised but probably 1-10
Checkpoint 1   - use Pegasus horse crossing to cross A332,   raynet 8.10 am  first riders in 80kms start

Grid ref 954 735 In Car park on the A332 opposite Rangers Gate, can crew in small car park, please do not block the road to the farm

 

Crew point  If you cannot crew at Cp1, crewing is available( between cp1 and cp2)  ½ mile up the road towards Ascot , in a car park on the right opposite Cranbourne Gate, plenty of parking. Please do not park on the lane as horses will be riding along it . Strictly no crewing  or parking of crew cars within 250 yards of the A322 road crossing.

Checkpoint 5  
Bishopsgate, crewing on foot only on the grass, park outside the Park, walk 100-200 yards.  No crewing within the Deer Park Enclosure at all ( ie. Not within the metal railings)
Checkpoint 6 – no crewing allowed

There are four possible crewing places, two in car parks within a mile or so of the venue, one at Blacknest gate and one at Bishopsgate

Riders will pass these crew places at least once , some twice on a 32kms

Water will also be provided at smiths lawn and at two other double checkpoints on course for those who are riding without crew
